JBMR® publishes highly impactful original manuscripts, reviews, and special articles on basic, translational and clinical investigations relevant to the musculoskeletal system and mineral metabolism. The journal is interested in original research on the biology and physiology of skeletal tissues, interdisciplinary research spanning the musculoskeletal and other systems, including but not limited to immunology, hematology, energy metabolism, cancer biology, and neurology, and systems biology topics using large scale “-omics” approaches. The journal welcomes clinical research on the pathophysiology, treatment and prevention of osteoporosis and fractures, as well as sarcopenia, disorders of bone and mineral metabolism, and rare or genetically determined bone diseases.

JBMR® is published monthly on behalf of the ASBMR by Oxford University Press. Most articles appear online in a non–copy-edited “Accepted Article” version within two weeks after acceptance. The copyedited Version of Record appears in Early View within four weeks from acceptance before inclusion in the next available print issue.

JBMR® Plus, published by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, is a monthly international, open access peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research on all aspects of bone and musculoskeletal research accepting submissions. The current impact factor of JBMR® Plus is 2.4.

JBMR® Plus publishes original research, reviews, detailed protocols and methods, and special articles in basic, translational, and clinical science relevant to bone, musculoskeletal metabolism and regenerative medicine research. The journal welcomes research on osteoimmunology as well as research on fat, muscle, cartilage, and kidney interactions with bone. Clinical studies, including trials and observational studies, and epidemiology and pharmacoepidemiology studies are encouraged. JBMR® Plus also welcomes manuscripts on orthopedics, stem cell therapies, specialized biomechanics protocols, novel imaging techniques and big data.

As a sister journal to ASBMR’s flagship subscription journal, the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research (JBMR®), JBMR® Plus is able to access a remarkable pool of experienced, expert reviewers who have made JBMR® the most highly regarded international kournal in bone and mineral research. Such support has made JBMR® Plus a rapidly responsive and innovative home for new discoveries that will ultimately improve global musculoskeletal health.

All articles in JBMR® Plus are published under a Creative Commons license by Oxford University Press. Authors with open access mandates from funders are fully compliant when publishing with this journal.
