Committee Service & Expectations

ASBMR Committees play an invaluable role in advancing the Society's mission and strategic priorities.

Nominations for committee service are accepted from current members between January-March each year via the Call for Volunteer Nominations form. Committee members serve three-year terms with terms beginning on the final day of the ASBMR Annual Meeting.

Committee members are annually required to meet the Committee Member Expectations (see below). Individuals unable to meet the expectations may be removed from committee service prior to the end of their three-year term.

Member demand to serve on ASBMR committees is high. Individuals not appointed to a committee are encouraged to apply again during the next Call for Volunteer cycle. Members that apply and are not appointed to a committee are given priority for appointment in the next cycle.

Committee Member Expectations
  • Attend at least 75% of all committee meetings
  • Respond to at least 75% of emailed requests for feedback/suggestions/input
  • Come to meetings prepared, having read materials in advance
  • Maintain the confidentiality of committee activities
  • Recuse oneself from any discussions that might constitute a conflict of interest
  • Read all meeting action items and provide feedback, if necessary
  • Complete work assignments in the agreed‑upon time frame or notify the chair of any delay
  • Failure of a member to meet these expectations may result in removal
