The ASBMR LEAD Program equips early- and mid-career faculty with the leadership skills essential for advancing in bone, mineral, and musculoskeletal science. While scientific training is rigorous, many rising faculty receive little formal preparation in leading teams, managing people, or navigating the organizational challenges that come with career growth. LEAD fills that gap.
What the Program Offers
This biannual, nine-month program provides ASBMR members with customized leadership development led by professional business educators. Participants meet for one two-hour session each month and engage in peer networking groups that reinforce learning and build community. The program culminates in a networking reception at the ASBMR Annual Meeting.
LEAD is designed to strengthen core leadership competencies, enhance team-building and management skills, and support the long-term career advancement of emerging and mid-career faculty across the ASBMR community.
Eligibility
The program is tailored for early- and mid-career ASBMR members. Priority is given to those in — or soon entering — independent faculty positions, including postdoctoral fellows with more than two years of experience. However, members at all career stages are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Letter of Interest (500–750 words): Explain why you wish to participate, how the program will support your career goals, and confirm your eligibility and commitment to attend all sessions.
- Letter of Support: A brief statement from your direct supervisor or department chair confirming your ability to dedicate the required time.
